A Matchmaker, Not a Middleman
Bhaarrtie did not set out to build a business. She set out to help people she knew.
In November 2024, a handful of families she had known for years were all going through the same quiet difficulty — good children, good families, and no reliable way to find each other. The matrimonial websites were full of strangers. The traditional networks had grown thin. So she started doing what she had always done informally: listening carefully, keeping track, and introducing the right people.
She never expected it to grow. But every family she helped told another family, and that family told a cousin, and a small circle became a hundred, then a thousand. In roughly a year and a half, fourteen rishtas have been finalised through Shubbh Maangal.
Today Shubbh Maangal is a formally registered matchmaking service. What has not changed is that Bhaarrtie still does all of it herself — every call, every profile, every introduction. She answers her own phone. That is the whole point.

2024
It Begins Among Friends
November 2024. Bhaarrtie starts Shubbh Maangal within her own circle of personal connections, purely to help their children find suitable matches. No website, no fees, no plan beyond helping people she already knew and trusted.
2025
Word of Mouth Takes Over
Families start referring other families. The WhatsApp community grows past a hundred, then several hundred. The first rishtas are finalised — and each engagement announcement brings a fresh wave of referrals.
2026
A Registered Service, Still Run Personally
The community crosses a thousand families and fourteen rishtas. Shubbh Maangal is formally registered as a business, and the process moves to one-to-one matching — profiles are now sent privately rather than posted for everyone to browse.
